The Optimist Creed
Promise Yourself
To be strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful expression at all times and give a smile to every living creature you meet.
To give so much time to improving yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud word, but in great deeds.
To live in the faith that the whole world is on your side, so long as you are true to the best that is in you.
One of life's beauties is that it affords us the latitude to shift gears and change direction on a dime or after much contemplation. I mention this because the deeper I get into the journey the clearer the realization becomes that at some point I will have to make adjustments to the original plan.
The original plan consisted of earning a masters degree, writing a book, losing 100 lbs, and growing tproject365.com; however, as a new opportunity has presented itself, I will have to supplant one goal(writing the book) with another(starting a new business). I will share more details in the not too distant future...
Remember: If you think you can't, you're right. If you think you can, you're right.
As I think about Martin Luther King, Jr., and his accomplishments, and try to ascertain the traits that made him great, I am reminded of other historical figures: Alexander the Great, Gandhi, Malcolm X, Mother Theresa, and Barack Obama. Connecting these magnificent folk is a common theme, a common thread, a common denominator--the primary connector they share is a resolve born of unshakable purpose.
Undoubtedly, they all had a dream, but more importantly, they understood that to proceed with unshakable purpose is to become a master of destiny; it is to take control; and, it is to steer life in the direction of their dreams. Without a doubt, an unshakable purpose is the difference between living your dreams or living someone else's dreams.
I just came across an interesting passage while reading and thought I would share it with you:
"As you succeed in overcoming self you will begin to see things in their right relations. He who is swayed by any passion, prejudice, like or dislike, adjusts everything to that particular bias, and sees only his own delusions...[people] cannot understand Truth because they cling to self, because they believe in and love self, because they believe self to be the only reality, whereas it is the one delusion".
